Fifty shades of grey by E.L James

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana's quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too--but on his own terms. Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success--his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family--Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own dark desires. Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

This is a book basically about a college student Anastasia , who finds herself being seduced but a big time CEO with mega personal problems! the story goes on to show how there dysfunctional relationship unfolds...

Even though iv read this book for myself i still haven't decided weather my feelings toward it is hate or love?? iv never been more undecided to which side i stand on when it comes to a book. But this book had both parts where i could of crawled inside the pages and lived and others where i was tempted to bin it , im sad to say that although you can tell the author is very enthusiastic in her writing that it came off a bit trashy. One of those kind of books only middle aged woman read but its on the best sellers list and i cant comprehend why at all???????

Even at the times when i liked it never got beyond that. I thought that when it came to the story line when the author couldn't go anywhere in that particular scene she threw in a sex scene for the awe factor but towards the end of the  book it came predictable unoriginal and redundant ! I know and understand that book is mainly about the relationship and the sex but it kind of got used as a backup in mind when the author got lazy ! i don't advise anyone to read it unless trashy novel is your thing..

What im reading right now...

I recently just started Glow - by Amy Kathleen Ryan and im about half way threw is and i have to say im really enjoying it , i love syfy movies based in space but iv never really felt the draw towards books based in space or that kind of section in fantasy im more paranormal , ghosts vampires that sort of stuff but i came across this book in my local store and i absolutely LOVE the cover and yes i know people say "never judge a book by its cover" but i challenge anyone in the "book world" to tell me they don't instantly like a book more if it has a really pretty cover ! hmm :/ food for thought yes ! Any way back to the actual book , from were i am so far all i can tell is Waverly and Kieran were a young couple aboard a space ship heading towards "new earth" because here normal earth has become desolate . There world seems to be pretty much planned out till the sister ship comes into sight when they should be light years ahead of them ! soon people are boarding their ship and taken all the girl children to the other ship ! When Waverly find out that there are no kids aboard that ship , they were never able to resolve their fertility problems , and it soon becomes clear to her that what they are telling her ( that they had to rescue them because their ship was being destroyed !) that they have brought her and the other kids here to live with new familys! and iv read this in a hour im completely hooked in this dystopian spaced book !! my review will soon be up when im finished which at this rate wont be long!

Fang-tastic Friday!

Every Friday i will be rambling on about different genres of books in the fantasy category !
And this week is obviously gonna be vampires! :D

Most of the books in this category are mostly hit and miss ! they seem to cling to the too well known stereo types ( turn into bats, slicked back hair ,cape and bad accent!) now personally i don't like this but maybe you will ? but the whole they burn in day light and drink blood these i don't mind they seem to be the staples in which all authors go by.

I'v read Bram Stokers Dracula and obviously this book is a staple in popular culture in vampire writing . In Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series  i loved the concept that vampires are out in the open and everyone has come to terms with it ! a kind of original idea i love.

I'v read the morganville vampire series books , when i started to read them i absolutely loved them when it got to the sixth book ( i dont know if its just me ) but the author seems to prolonging it at the risk of ruining them ! everytime i finish them and then find out theres another i find myself thinking will she just give them a happy ending or kill them off ! in my opinion its do one of the other before she ruins the entire series! dont get me wrong they were still readable but the last couple i struggled to pick them back up once i put them down ! as iv said in one of my recent reviews.

Dont get me wrong i LOVE!!! vampire books you can get lost in them but my all time favourite has to be Anne rice's interviewer with a vampire! i love old historian type books and vampire books so this just sucked me in from the first sentence! "I see... said the vampire thoughtfully, and slowly he walked across the room towards the window. For a long time he stood there against the dim light from Divisidero Street and the passing beams of traffic." To me its pure magic always reminds how easy it is to be taken into the world of books! I'v always loved paranormal books especially one that's involve the creepy things that go bump in the night ! And im a complete sucker for the movies too i loved the Buffy movie!
(the one with Luke Perry) Its unbelievably cheesy and predictable as i just said they used some of the usual stereo types but come one everyone complains about the things they secretly love well maybe that's just me ??

Some of my favorite vampire books are

  • Interviewer with a vampire by Anne Rice (as i'v said)
  • Twilight By Stephanie Meyer ( i know this book is played out but its a bit of my guilty pleasure and the graphic novels are stunningly done )
  • The Vampire diaries   L. J. ...Smith (one of the first vampire series i read after twilight and i just fell in love with it ! and and i'm completely team Damon , Stefan P's me off with his indecisiveness!)
  • Memnoch the devil by Anne rice! ( As your starting to figure Ann rice is one of my favorite authors!!)
  • Sookie Stackhouse series by  Charlaine Harris ( Just a birlliant Author!)
Well there just five of them if i was truly to name all my favorites id be here forever and i just ordered a Chinese :D no i'm kidding ! but think that's enough rambling for now

Next Friday i'm gonna be rambling on about fairy tales! so if anyone has any recent take on fairy tales they can suggest to me it would be great !

Theme Thursdays!!

Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event hosted by Reading Between Pages that will be open from one Thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are :

  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”
This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.

This weeks Theme is NAME: The first name you come across while reading!
My Thursday theme for name is here:
"Jace launched himself at her, off the bed , in a single motion.Suddenly he was standing in the middle of the room, shirtless, his face white as bone."
Taken from "City of fallen Angels" by Cassandra Clare!

This book is not on my to read list for the month but i just received it as a gift and had to get it read cause i absolutely loved the mortal instruments series!

Leave a comment here with a link to your post for your Theme Thursdays.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest) , Abnegation (the selfless) , Dauntless ( the brave) , Amity ( the peaceful) and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she cant have both.So she makes her choice that surprises everyone , even herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determined who her friends really are--and where, exactly,a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one shes kept hidden from everyone because shes's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society , she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves..... or it might destroy her.Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series--dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals. stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.
! ☆ ★☆ ★

A dystopian novel were in the future everybody is set into factions to decide how they will act for life. This book has everything , action packed with a sprinkle of romance! Tris was brought up to believe she was born to be a Abnegation (selfless) even though being selfless doesn't come natural too here not as much as her brother or father , on a test to determine what faction she should be in for like she finds out she divergent , which is very dangerous luckily the examiner tells her she hide the results and she must not tell anyone of her results , on choosing day she decides she wants to be a dauntless (brave)

she has watched them all her life and has envied their freedom. In doing so she has to leave straight away leaving her family behind and begin initiation to become dauntless , which for the most part is really dangerous ! she makes friends Christina, Will, Al and she soon realizes what its like to do what she wants and have friends who make her laugh till her sides hurt . She also realizes how hard its going to be to become a permanent member of dauntless if she doesn't make it she will become faction-less which means she will have no home and be a cast away . That's when she meets four and instantly there's a noticeable spark between the two even thought he doesn't act on it (straight away) because he is one of her trainers threw the initiation stage.

She soon finds out there Erudite are planning something against her old faction and become suspicious he older brother (Caleb) has become a Erudite she goes to him to ask him to look into something even though it almost costs her place in dauntless , every member of dauntless is given a injection and are told its just mandatory that night Tris realizes that the injection was actually a mind control substance! It doesn't work on her because shes divergent but acts like one of her fellow mind controlled friends just to see whats going on she realizes that the erudite are using the dauntless to massacre the Abnegation so they can have control of the government . The serum doesn't seem to have works on Four either which can only mean he's divergent too!! they must fight and help save the helpless people from the abnegation faction and her friends who are killing innocent people unknown to themselves!

For me this book had everything i love about dystopian novels, this has to be one of my favorite reads in a long long time ! would definitely recommend to anyone who reads Y/A or dystopian books this book is a definite must have!!

Bite Club By Rachel Caine

After discovering that vampires populate her town, college student Claire Danvers knows that the undead just want to live their lives. But someone else wants them to get ready to rumble.

There's a new extreme sport getting picked up on the Internet: bare- knuckle fights pitting captured vampires against each other-or humans. Tracking the remote signal leads Claire- accompanied by her friends and frenemies-to discover that what started as an online brawl will soon threaten everyone in Morganville...

Well firstly im gonna start off by giving this book 3 stars out of 5 !
The reason im only rating in the middle is because well this book took a lot longer to capture my attention then the rest of this series and it took me a lot longer to read due to the fact i kept putting it down after three or four pages! Rachel cain is a wonderful writer i would of giving any of the rest of her books full marks but i thought the story line to this one in comparison to the others it was kind of boring !

*spoilers* The book is basically about Claire Danver's a college student in morganville which is obviously as we've learnt from the rest of the series is a town run by vampires. In this book Amelie's father escapes from the prison she had locked him up and and starts basically a bad version of fight club ! were humans are trained and conditioned to beat up vampires , and how there doing this when vampires have super strength and super speed is because unknown to the people there training there feeding them vampire blood in there protein shakes. Shane is Claire's boyfriend and he is one of the people being conditioned to fight vampires , Shane thinks hes being so violent because his father and his anger so he doesn't question anyone about being so angry all the time . Soon a website is set up to stream the fights between humans and vampires.

Claire is worried something is wrong when Shane starts to fight with everyone and she soon discovers he not just running on a treadmill in the gym but being in brutal fights with vampires. So she and Amelie set about stopping these vampires and there quest to start a war in morganville. Soon after they learn how it works and whose in charge Amelie set about sentencing everyone to death who is involved. So Claire has to find Shane and get him out of harms way before Amelie and Oliver find everyone and kill them!

So Eve , Claire and Myrinn set of on the trail for the psycho Bishop. They need to find the new location for the fight before the two friends Micheal (Eve's vampire Fiance) and Shane cant be set together in a fight to the death. Some how they manage to find the ware house in which the fight is being held. They go in under cover just blending with the people who are paying to see the fight ! when the fights starts Micheal wont fight Shane but try's to make him see what the vampires (bad vampires!) are doing to him it take a few minutes but when he see's Claire's face in the crowd he realizes what hes doing to everyone who loves him.

He comes to his sense soon in time for bishop to make a appearance there's some threats thrown back and forth and soon Myrinn kills him doesn't actually take alot! I don't see why no one done it before :/ hmmm

All in all this book does catch your attention after a while of reading (even though if it takes a long while) its not a book that id highly recommend but its readable ! I might not of found it great but you might so its the kind of book id say read yourself just to know if its your cuppa tea :)
