Amy & Rogers epic detour By Morgan Matson

Amy Curry's year sucks. And it's not getting any better her mother has decided to move, so somehow Amy has to get their car from California to the East Coast. There's just one problem. Since her fathers death Amy hasn't been able to get behind the wheel of a of a car. Enter Roger, the son of a family friend, who turns out to be funny , nice and unexpectedly cute.
But Roger's plans involve more of a "scenic" route than just driving from A to B, so suddenly Amy finds herself on the road trip of a lifetime. And, as she grows closer to Roger , Amy starts to realise that sometimes you have to get lost to find your way home....

Well firstly ill give it 4 out 5 stars ! i really loved this book i don't really read any non paranormal Y.a books so this was my first and this has made me want to read more like it , the story line is just really sweet and you can picture yourself in Amy's shoes and you kinda want to be her to be going on the road trip of a life time !

*Spoilers* Basically the story entails Amy curry a teenager from California who thinks her life sucks right now and just wants to be invisible , her mother decides she wants to move after the death of her father and just up and leaves to the east cost. She decided she wants Amy to drive her car instead of shipping separate but Amy cant drive since the accident , so enters roger who volunteers to drive her across state.
The story is mostly about Amy coming to terms with the recent death of her father . Her father used to go on road trips all the time ! (which is soo cool) so after roger wants to take the scenic route she starts to enjoy herself more knowing shes going to places her father was or would have loved to see. Though the book is more predominantly about Amy , Roger has dad issues to i.e he doesn't seem him so much and he's headed to see his father after he gets Amy to her new home. This story deals with both of the teenagers problems threw talking about it or doing fun things together! Instead of choosing to end the book in a happily ever after kinda way Matson decided to leave it hanging with just a hint that the two teenagers will continue to be part of each others life's which is in my opinion more realistic they didn't devout there love for each other two pages after they kissed which seems to be the story line to most Y.a romance and some adult books too.

Amy and Rogers epic detour manages to be heartwarming, fun ,light , poignant , heartbreaking and hopeful all the same time.A great book which has earned a special place on my bookshelf . And has left me wanting to have a road trip across america more then ever! And ill defiantly be playing Amy and Rogers playlist as loud as i can when i do !
